The small town of Rye, in East Sussex, England, stands at the juncture of two rivers, and in Medieval times served as an important member of the Cinque Ports. In 2001 this small civil parish had a population of just over 4,000. Rye has also been associated with the smuggling gangs of the 18th and 19 centuries, and this makes the area rich with local stories.
The house in this photo is located on the nature reserve at Rye Harbour, just a short 5 minute drive from the historic town of Rye.
